Hello football supporters!  My name is Russell and I will be keeping a close eye on the FA’s RESPECT campaign as the season is bound to throw up countless talking points for us to discuss and debate all for the good of the game.

Every week we seem to see many of our ‘heroes’ screaming abuse at the referee, diving or finding new ways to get an opponent sent off.  This kind of thing filters down through the leagues to grassroots level.  I will be reviewing where the campaign seems to be working and where more work is required, from the Premier League through to my own amateur football team.

Footy matters to me because I just can’t seem to leave it alone.  It is a cruel game on many occasions, and these are the times I say to myself I am going to have nothing more to do with it.  Yet there I am the next week, totally involved in it once again, either watching it or playing it.  You can be involved in an absolutely terrible game, and then…BANG!  Your team scores a goal and suddenly you remember why you love the game so much.  Nothing comes close to giving me the rollercoaster ride of emotions I feel at a football game.
